đ JINS (@jins_podcast on Instagram) is the 1st podcast that addresses love, sexuality and gender for BIPoC and/or Muslims. Itâs been gaining momentum, totaling 500K+ streams and about 30K+ loyal listeners, making it a reference in the field, especially within BIPoC & Muslim communities of North America, Europe & the MENA region. Since 2021, I have been interviewing 120+ actors, artists, sociologists, sexologists, activists and authors in both French & English.
đŹ My project this season is to interview international superstars of the movie industry, who bent the norms and representations of Arabs and/or Muslims in Hollywood. Iâll also draw a comparison between screen representation in American & French cinema since 2001. Arab-Americans have been very visible after 9/11; yet they have been rendered invisible outside of the âterroristâ narrative. So, Iâm obsessed with the reestablishment of a truth about love and sexuality that sticks more to the reality of millions of Arab-Americans (and Arabs of the diaspora), that is taking into account ALL of their complex identities, with a feminist, intersectional, decolonial, antiracist, inclusive view.

Gay, Arab & Muslim in Hollywood - with Haaz SLEIMAN
đ Today on @jins_podast, the first podcast on love, sexualities and gender for Arabs and/or Muslims, I feel thrilled to present you my dear friend Haaz Sleiman. Based in L.A., Haaz Sleiman is the first openly gay Arab Muslim actor in Hollywood! He is a Lebanese-American actor celebrated for his groundbreaking contributions to the representation of gay Arabs in the film industry. He gained critical acclaim for his portrayal of Tarek in the 2007 drama "The Visitor" and his career took a historic turn with his role in Marvel's "Eternals" (2021), where he played Phastos' husband, marking the first openly gay couple and parents in the Marvel Universe. Additionally, Haaz starred in "Breaking Fast" (2020), a romantic comedy that explores the life of a gay Muslim man during Ramadan who falls in love with a white man.
